Pumpkin Topiary

While keeping in the fall spirit I have been working on some fall inspired projects. On one hand I wanted to make something to “fall” up the house and on the other I wanted it to be inexpensive to make. I really wanted to see if I could take “cheap” elements and create something that didn’t look cheap.

I started with these pumpkins from the $1 store:
They are pretty rough looking and prove the saying “you get what you pay for”! But they are perfect bases to build on!!! I added some glossy white spray paint and some fall leaves that I had from another project. I also wanted to cover up the seam the ran the middle of the pumpkins, so I added some ribbon with hot glue and then glued the pumpkins in a stack.
I also wanted to put this topiary on a base. So I picked up this pedestal at the thrift store for under $2:
I spray painted the base with a hammered metal spray paint. I love how all the colors work together. I didn’t want the topiary to be attached to the base so I just placed it on top and added some more leaves to the base pumpkin. This is what I ended up with:

  4. I would say I spent about $5. The pumpkins were $1 each, the pedistal was under $2 and I had the paint, ribbon, and leaves on hand!

  13. This is so pretty. I like the stripes in the middle with just the sprinkling of leaves. It really came together.
