Chalkboard Tray Gift Idea

I know a lot of you are in love with chalkboards! I know I am in love with them! I like that you can turn just about anything into a chalkboard with a little paint. Buyer beware: it really makes you start to look around at what else could use a little chalkboard paint, if you don’t watch out you’ll have chalkboards everywhere!
I very much enjoy turning old trays into beautiful curvy chalkboards! Usually a chalkboard is so modern looking with hard edges and they look so utilitarian! That is SO not this girl!
I look for a tray, platter, or anything with a flat surface in the middle and some curvy lines. This tray was SO not real silver so I didn’t feel guilty painting it! I can usually find trays and platters for as little as a dollar at thrift stores.
I usually leave the edges silver but I wanted to try something new and add some Heirloom White to the edges. I free hand the chalk around all of the curves, it takes some time but I always love the results!!!
Can’t you see it sitting in your kitchen with the weeks menu written on it? Or in your entry way greeting your guests?
This would make a great Christmas present for someone on your list and if you have some chalkboard paint around it would be a really inexpensive gift too! If you don’t have the paint you can find it at your local hardware or craft store! It’s not too expensive and it goes a long long long way!
