Upcycled Tray & Cloche

The basis for most of my crafting and inspiration is upcycling. Some of you may be unfamiliar with this term. Wikipedia gives this description:
Upcycling is the process of converting waste materials or useless products into new materials or products of better quality or a higher environmental value.

It’s basically what I do; I take “useless” or unattractive products and turn them into items of “better quality”. At least in my eyes!

Here’s a few of my finds that were in need of some upcycling.

I painted both the tray and the base of the cloche with Heirloom White.
I took this beautiful paisley fabric and Mod Podged it onto the surface of the tray. Using several coats of the Hard Surface Mod Podge.
I love how they both turned out! This set up is making me anxious for summer to be here!!! Bring on the warm sunny days!!!

  1. What a fun project. Love that material you used. You have such a knack for upcycling. Great job!!

  2. I have the exact same tray and really want to try this. I like the hard surface mod podge tip. It is not sticky is it? I made some coasters and they came out stick with the regular mod podge.

  3. @ Chandeen: Nope it’s not sticky at all! I say go for it, for a small project it makes a big impact!

  4. Beautiful results on both. I particularly love your fabric choice for the tray. And it totally reminds me of summer too. Won’t be long 🙂 Thanks for sharing your pretty project inspiration.

  5. So pretty! I love the white paint. It all looks so good together. Have a great week, Vicky
