USA Firecracker Blocks & Tutorial

While I was pondering what we should do for our June Make and Take I realized the next big holiday was the 4th of July! I decided that these USA firecracker blocks would be prefect!!!
These were the ones I made as an example for the class…
Here are some of the ladies that attended the class and their lovely creations….
If you were unable to make it to the class but your interested in making these, here’s a little how tutorial for ya…..
I had my hubby cut down a few 2×4’s for me. They are 5in, 6in, and 7in tall.
I painted the blocks Warm White by DecoArt. You can paint them any color you like and that “goes” with your papers.
I picked out my papers (which has to be the hardest part, in my opinion) and decoupaged them on with Mod Podge. I also decoupaged on some black letters that I cut out with my Cricut.
Once all that was dry I hammered in some nails to the top and finished it off with some lace ribbon. This creates the “firecracker” part.
This is the set that I made during the class! I just love these! They are so much fun!
What do you think? They are super easy and doable, give them a try and post how they turned out!!!

  1. What a great idea! These are too cute! This would be a great afternoon craft project when my granddaughter comes to visit!

  2. These are really cute and I already have wood blocks that I could use.

  3. I love your version! And I completely agree about picking out the paper to be the hardest part. I buy paper so that I have several choices to make, but then I have so many that I like that the project doesn’t get done because I couldn’t decide. I am going to have my husband cut down a 2×4 for me and do this. Now, what paper should I use? Better start now, or better yet, make several:)

  4. This is such a great idea, and so simple and easy to make! How creative, thanks for sharing! 😉
