Glitter {2×4} Pumpkins

Last year I made some 2×4 pumpkins and I decided to make more this year. I really wanted to try some new techniques though, some new finishes maybe. As I was walking through Michael’s I had to stop and do a double take as I noticed a new isle filled with Martha Stewart blue and white! I’m sure you all know she has a bunch of new craft products out right now, they’ve already been all over blogland!
Now, I am not one of the lucky ones that received a big ole package of Martha Stewart goodness but I wish I was. I just had to go and buy some the old fashioned way! : ) I was really drawn to the glitter paint and suddenly had visions of a sparkly Fall.
This is the wood that I started with. Three stair step cut 2×4’s that we routed with two cuts down the front and some small bits of wood for the stems. Have I mentioned how fun it is to craft with 2×4’s???

I painted the wood with different shades of metallic paint and then added the coordinated glitter paints on top.
Look at all that glitter and shine. I choose these metallic colors to add to the glamorous feeling they had.
I love the super straight lines of the wood paired with pretty sparkly metallic colors, it makes for a really fun juxtaposition.
Glitter is so much fun to work with and it really transforms a project. I’m really going to have to restrain myself from glittering everything this Fall!!!
Linking up to these great link parties!!!
