{Merry Christmas} Fence Board Sign

The awesome people at Oh My Crafts contacted me and asked if I would like to give their awesome vinyl a try….I of course screamed said YES! A package soon arrived with a bunch of colorful vinyl inside and it was time to get started on a fun project with them!
I started out with a plain wood fence board. I left it rough and untreated so it would have a bit of a rustic feel.
I grabbed some white craft paint and painted the front of the fence board.
Then it was my Cricut’s turn for some fun! I grabbed the yellow vinyl because I figure that will be the least likely to be used over time.
I cut out “MERRY CHRISTMAS” out of the yellow vinyl and applied it to the top of the painted board. Not looking too Christmasy is it? Just wait….we’re getting there!
I used some DecoArt “Christmas” red and painted it right on top of the cut out vinyl. I used a foam paint brush and really had to make sure to get into all of the groves of the rough board.
Once the paint was dry it was time to peel the vinyl letters off. Because the fence board was rough and bumpy the vinyl didn’t adhear completely to the wood, which added to the rustic look.
All that was left to do was distress the board and give it a little bit more character!
Add a couple hangers on the back and it’s ready to hang! I love it’s rustic and festive feel!
Sorry the pictures aren’t the best! It’s been rush rush rush around here lately!
Thanks so much to the great people at Oh My Crafts for sending me this awesome vinyl to play with! If you didn’t know, Oh My Crafts also has a great blog! Head over and check out all the great ideas that they have and let them know I sent ya!
