Chicken Wire Bookcase

Awhile back I acquired this very country inspired garage sale bookcase. It sat out in my garage for quite some time while I was trying to feel inspired to do something, anything with it. I just wasn’t feeling it. It was oak and there was a cut out of a heart at the top….nothing wrong with either just none of which is my style at all.
I was working on getting some larger furniture pieces cranked out for my booth at Sweet Repeats and came across this forgotten bookcase. I decided it was time to just tackle it and come up with a game plan. Of course I forgot to get a before picture….just imagine it oak and plain! Got it? Okay moving on.
I gave the bookcase a Heirloom White makeover from head to toe and a little distressing. However it needed something more, it just wasn’t special enough. Hummmm…….CHICKEN WIRE…….of course!!!
I (and by that I mean my hubby) attached some good ole chicken wire to the back of the entire bookcase. The second it was attached I was thrilled with it!
Of course you may be thinking to yourself, this doesn’t exactly deter from the “country” feeling of the bookcase. However, I often feel that sometimes you just shouldn’t fight it and go with what you have to work with!
Of course I had a lot of fun decorating it for this photo shoot. I pulled and grabbed items from my house and in the end was sorta wishing that I could just leave it all just as it was and find a great place to display it. Alas, this chicken wire bookcase is headed to my space and will hopefully find itself a new home that will love it as much as I ended up loving it!
