Thrifty Thursday #29

For quite awhile I was trying to lay off the furniture purchases, the garage was just getting too out of control! Even if I spotted a great find I cringed at the face my husband would most likely make if I were to squeeze one more stick of furniture into our already packed garage.
Now that I have a booth where I can showcase my furniture re-dos, I feel more free to pick up some thrifty furniture and larger items as they come along. So I didn’t waste any time. Check out that awesome wooden highchair that I picked up! I’m teetering between two ideas for it. Should I go ultra girly or gender neutral???
When I spotted this old dresser it left a lot to be desired. Luckily I have an imagination and at $25 I couldn’t pass it up! I’ll admit, it’s in pretty bad shape and it’s pretty old. We’ll see if I can salvage it!
I totally jumped all over this old wood headboard and footboard. I’m wondering if I can swing another bench project???

I have had a good amount of luck lately finding salvaged doors. 4 to be exact! I have already tackled one door now the other 3 are just waiting for their makeovers!
Do you ever have trouble deciding what to do with your furniture upcycles? What color to use and what technique to try out??? I know I do. Especially when I’m working on furniture to sell. I know what I think is cute, but would someone else? How do you decide, or do you just let the piece speak to you?

  1. I love your finds! Especially that headboard/footboard…and the dresser. Can’t wait to see what you do with them.

  2. Your husband must have taken cringing lessons from my husband, lol. At least you have an outlet for selling. I just want to rescue stuff! I like the headboard & footboard. Looking forward to the finished products.

  3. I think I would go Ultra Girly with the high chair. Someone will snap it right up if it is an item that really catches their eye and is different.
I love, love the dresser and bed. I can’t wait to see what you do with them.
    Good Luck

  4. All great pieces. Can’t wait to see what you come up with.

  5. Hurry up and get going on that highchair. My grand kids need the old one I use here updated, and well…. you’ll be my inspiration.

  6. I also have an old highchair and am wondering what to do with it as well. Going to paint it, just not sure yet what colour. I like to let the pieces speak to me. Strange how that works sometimes. Good luck and can’t wait to see the finished project 🙂

  7. I also have an old highchair waiting to be redone. Going to paint it for sure, just not sure yet what colour. I’m waiting for it to speak to me! Right now it’s sitting in my basement and every time I pass by it, it’s grabbing my attention, so I know it’s getting close. I can’t wait to see what you do with yours. The bench idea is wonderful. I love doing them!

  8. Great finds! I think a super girly highchair would be fun. And I love your headboard bench … I have a headboard just waiting for that same project!

  9. You totally scored! I am so jealous and cant wait to see what you do with your finds! Stopping by from TT&J

  13. I have a high chair very very similar to this one that I found at a thrift store too. I’m a bit jealous of your door collection though 🙂 I would love for you to link up at Handmade 52! http://raisingoranges.blogspot.com/2012/01/handmade-52-3.html

  14. How funny, I found a highchair just like that one for my little girl! I ended up painting it white, but I’m tempted to do something a little more fun with it now!

  15. Great finds!!! I L.O.V.E. to shop at thrift stores!! Where do you have a booth to sell your furniture re-dos? Maybe I should look into doing that, and then I could buy more goodies!! Check out my blog if you’d like! http://www.mariahscreations.blogspot.com
