A Change in Direction

I have been at this blogging thing now for over 3 years.

Hard to believe really. I have learned so much in those 3 years. There have been ups and downs along the way….not to mention many obstacles that appeared along the way. I have tired different things through the years too….some worked some didn’t. Some things I did because I wanted to and some I did because I felt like that is what I was supposed to do. Like there is a craft blogger play book and I’m just running the plays.

Change

Going through my husband’s deployment and now a move across country has made me look at some things differently. We are a military family and will often be going through huge life events, like being separated or moving every few years. My focus has shifted just a bit these last several months and I wanted to share where my mind was at.

I have decided to no longer have my Time to Shine link party every week. I never had too much attendance and it has just become too time consuming for me to be quite honest. I will very much miss going through all of your link ups every week, but it’ s just a sacrifice that I need to make. I will also probably not be posting to a real strict posting schedule.

I will still however be posting my creations, tutorials, thrifty finds, etc. I absolutely love creating and crafting. I also love sharing my ideas and tutorials. It gives me a lot of joy to be part of the creative community. I know that by taking a less typical roll as a craft blogger that I may loose some readers or not gain as many as I could otherwise. And it’s ok with me. We are living a different life than a lot of bloggers out there and some of the demands that I have to meet are also different. So I have decided to also make my blog different and work for me.

As I said, I will still very much be posting as often as I can with the latest that my mind has churned out. I am also still open to advertisers, guest posters, features, reviews, giveaways etc. so if you are interested in any of these things just let me know!!!

I hope that you will still stick around and enjoy my little slice of the blog world with me!

Courtney I LOVE your blog – I always stop a moment when I am gleaning through emails, deleting, delegating – but when yours comes up, I know I’m going to open something that makes me smile. A brilliant pause in my day.
You don’t need to be consistent, you don’t need to have extra things to do – just be you.
Your readers will probably be going through similar things (I’m going thru a moment of overwhelm and reshuffle too!).
Your links party could be a “girls get together” every so often – just share some people you like and welcome guest writers to post on those days you don’t feel like it.
I love visiting and reading what you are up to – but always take care of YOU first. Best tip you could ever share 🙂 THANK YOU!!

  7. Hi Courtney, Thanks so much for being so honest. I totally understand, things change and family always comes first. I just wanted to say I always loved your little party and thanks for having done that!!!!! Will continue to read your blog…..Thanks Christine from Little Brags

  8. Good for you!

This summer I had a similar revelation. I love blogging, but I felt compelled to take a step back. I wanted to spend more quality time with my family, volunteer more at the kids schools, and do more things for myself. I am sure I haven’t gained as many readers as I had been and I know I have lost some. But blogging became fun again and I am happy with the size I am and the investment I make into it. Enough to let me be creative and have fun, but not so much that I feel overwhelmed.

I bet you will hang on to the majority of your readers and settle right in to a new blogging life!

  9. First I would like to Thank your husband and your family for the sacrifices you make on a daily basis. My husband retired from 30 years in the Navy and I know how the deployments and moves can take their toll.
I love reading and looking through your blog and get inspired with each posting. I can totally understand the changes you are making and although what is gone will be missed, I will continue to read when you do post.
I look forward to you next post.
God Bless you and your family.
