A couple Christmas’ ago I made some Decoupaged Clipboards for my daughter’s kindergarten teachers. This last Christmas I just ran out of time to make any, so I decided to make one for my daughter’s 1st grade teacher and one for my son’s preschool teacher as end of year gifts. Since I didn’t include a tutorial last go around, I’m including one this time!
I started out with two clipboards from the craft store. I love the craft clipboards because you can easily screw off the metal clips for decorating.
I painted both of the clipboards. I decided to just use spray paint and it worked great. I used Heirloom white on the front and back of the boards.
Then I decoupaged some coordinated scrapbook papers onto the fronts of the clipboards. I used one piece of 12×12 scrapbook paper mostly and a little strip of coordinated paper across the bottom of the boards.
On the solid colored paper on the bottom I added the teacher’s names. I cut the names out of black cardstock using my Cricut and decoupaged them on.
I dug through my ribbon stash and found some ribbon that coordinated with the papers I had chosen. I just knotted them onto the metal clip.
Another coat of decoupage over the whole thing and they are done!
I think they turned out super cute and the teachers seemed to love them too! They make great gifts for Christmas, teacher appreciation week, or end of the year gifts! : D
Linking up to these great link parties!!!
I’m saving this idea for when my son starts school. I’m already dreading all the teacher gifts!
Very cute!! I’m going to have to steal the idea when my daughter starts school!
Awesome! I’m going to get the kids to help. they can pick the paper, the letter font and can help with the modpodge. Thanks for sharing!
What cute clipboards! I am sure they loved receiving them.
This is adorable!! Hope you can link up at my trendy tuesday party!! http://www.sweetlittlegals.com/2012/06/trendy-tuesday-4.html
i had no idea you could buy clipboards that came apart like that. That would make it so much easier to decorate. I tried these once and they were a pain, had no desire to do it again. But knowing about these clipboards, I may give it a go again. Thanks for sharing!
I am having trouble getting the edges of the paper to stay glued to the clipboard. Any suggestions?
Jenine
I would say you need to make sure you are getting your mod podge all the way to the edge of the paper before placing it on the clipboard. Then when you are using your straight edge from the middle of the paper out to the edges. Hope that helps!!!

Hey Courtney… which store did you find the clipboards at? I’m looking around online w/o much luck! Thanks, Stacy
I got mine at Michael’s.
Were you able to get the clipboard smooth enough to write comfortably on? The layers of paper and letters are slightly elevated making it hard to write on without lots of paper under the sheet I’m writing on.
Did you put decoupage on the back as well?
I didn’t, but I did paint it. You totally could decoupage the back as well though!
