Chicken Wire Christmas Tree

I love working with Chicken Wire in new and unexpected ways. Awhile ago I found an image on Pinterest and knew that I just had to make some of these fantastic Chicken Wire Christmas Trees.
I started with some small pieces of moulding to create the frame of the tree. They are simply nailed together in the corners with some small finishing nails.
Then it was time to add the chicken wire, aka: one of my favorite crafting materials! I used a staple gun to attach the chicken wire to the back of the wood frame….it’s starting to look like a Christmas tree now. Well sorta.
All that was left to do was paint. In the end I was unable to choose between making a white tree and a red tree. So I made both.
The white one is painted with Heirloom White by Rustoleum and the red is Apple Red by Rustoleum
Once the trees were painted I hung them on my wreath hanger on the front door. I played around with some different ornaments, but I have to say I just love my collection of vintage ball ornaments on the trees!
The awesome thing about these Chicken Wire Christmas Trees is that it can be used for so many different ways. Imagine clipping all of your Christmas cards to the tree or maybe some of your favorite Christmas photos of Christmas’ past. Maybe it would be a great place to hang some of your sentimental ornaments up out of reach of little hands. The possibilities and endless!
