I can’t even begin to explain the MASSIVE purge I’ve been doing around the house lately. Every nook and cranny. Sometimes I haven’t even begun cleaning out a spot when another spot distracts me. I was cooking the other day and suddenly found myself organizing a drawer in the kitchen. So I’ve been determined to either find a place or function for everything. I have a HUGE stash in my garage of things I’ve found along the way that I loved but never did anything with. A lot of the stuff ends up upcycled and for sale at A Diamond in the Stuff Boutique but some stuff just sits.

I had this beautiful old mason jar that was missing a lid and had a crack in it. It wasn’t sell worthy so it needed to find a place in my home. I decided that it needed to become a Mason Jar Succulent…..

By the way….I am so over winter! So this project was just what I needed to brighten my life. I luckily had everything I needed on hand except the succulent which made this project even better.

I added a bunch of pea gravel to the bottom of the mason jar for plenty of drainage for the succulent.

Then I added some fast draining potting mix on top of the pea gravel and popped my succulent in.

Bam! That’s it. A super adorable Mason Jar Succulent!

Since I’ve got a little yellow and aqua thing going on in my kitchen I thought this was the best place for my new addition.

I love to have little bits of greenery in the house, but because I have been known to be a bit of a black thumb, most of mine is fake. I have faith that I can keep this succulent alive. I hope.

It’s just so beautiful isn’t it?

A couple months ago I posted about our Awesome Backyard Makeover and you may have spotted this beautiful Three Tiered Succulent Garden in some of the photos. I wanted to bring a little green onto our patio and I love succulents….mostly because I find it hard to kill them. So since two months seemed like enough time I figured I would finally share my tutorial for how I made this little gem!

Supplies needed……

-Cactus Potting Mix

-Small Rocks

-Succulents

-Container of your choice

This silver tiered stand has been with me for years. I found it while thrifting and shared it in a thrifty post. For the most part it’s been sitting in my garage collecting dust only to be brought out on a few occasions. I was at the point where I either wanted to get rid of it or put it to real use.

I grabbed some extra rocks and poured them in the bottom of each tier. The rocks help drain any excess water away from the succulents because they don’t like to be over watered.

Then I placed all of my succulents in the containers around the stand to plan where I wanted them to go. Once I had the placement figured out I popped each succulent out and poured in the potting mix. I had to work with the dirt to make sure that all the plants were covered. Then I sprinkled some more rocks on top of the dirt.

It only took a few items and a few minutes to create a super cute succulent centerpiece. Tarnished silver + tiered stand + succulents = a happy me.

I absolutely love sticking succulents in odd or unusual objects. I mean succulents in a flower pot isn’t bad…but succulents in an old three tiered silver stand. Perfection.
