I just couldn’t contain myself anymore….I am just SO in the mood for some “Fall” projects!!! I had this idea floating around in my head and just couldn’t wait any longer to make it.
Wanna make a fun googly eyed Halloween frame too?
Gather your supplies:
-$1 Michael’s picture frame
-Some lime green craft paint
-Lots and lots of googly eyes
-A couple embellishments (I used ribbon and chipboard letters)
I painted the picture frame with the craft paint and started gluing the google eyes on and glued some more eyes on…..and then glued even more on. This took quite awhile!
Once all the eyes were glued on…I took a breath…and then cut “EEK” out of some chipboard with my cricut. I painted the letters the same color as the frame. I decided to attach the letters to the frame with a sparkly black piece of ribbon. Of course I didn’t have any glittery black ribbon so I just decoupaged some glitter onto some plain black ribbon.
Look at all that googly eye goodness!!!
I can’t wait to pop a picture of my kiddo’s in their Halloween costumes into the frame.
What about you, are you gearing up for Halloween yet? We’ve already bought one costume and another one has been decided on. It’s not even September yet….but I’m looking at it all as getting a jump start to the crazy busy season!!!
Linking up to these great link parties!!!

A Mod Podged Picture Frame http://adiamondinthestuff.com/2011/01/mod-podged-picture-frame.html http://adiamondinthestuff.com/2011/01/mod-podged-picture-frame.html#comments Mon, 03 Jan 2011 14:00:00 +0000 http://174.132.189.156/~adits/2011/01/a-mod-podged-picture-frame.html I just love those beautiful boutique picture frames that I see around. One huge problem they usually have is the price tag. So I like to make my own!
Gather your supplies for this super easy project:
Picture Frame
Paper
Paint
Mod Podge
Brushes
Sandpaper
Ribbon (Optional)
As you can see up above, I cut the paper to fit the frame. I simply trace and cut the outer edges and I use an exacto knife to cut out the middle. You don’t have to worry about making the paper fit perfectly because you can use sandpaper to clean up the edges.
Paint the edges of the picture frame. I like to try and make sure that I paint a good amount from the edges so that if the paper doesn’t quite go to the edge you won’t see the unfinished wood.
I then Mod Podged the paper to the frame. I add a layer of Mod Podge to the wood frame and attach the paper. I try to smooth out the paper and make sure there aren’t any bubbles. I then wait for that to dry.
Want a tip? I love using my Pampered Chef scrapers to smooth out the paper!!!
After that is dry I sand the edges, inside and out to achieve a finished look. I then cover the entire project in a few coats of Mod Podge, letting them dry for 10-15 minutes in between.
I added some red ribbon across the front of the frame and a little bow. I just glued the ribbon on with hot glue and added the bow on top. I think it adds a little fun whimsy.
So there you have it! This frame was a Christmas present for my mom but I think it would be great for Valentine’s Day too! I think I will be making a lot of these kinds of things this spring. I really want to experiment with some different papers and embellishments!
On another note, we are finially home from our after Christmas va-ca. I can’t wait to show you guys all of the goodies that I found while exploring some Arizona’s thrift stores and antique stores. Not to mention that I actually got to visit Hobby Lobby. It both made me happy and sad that I can’t visit one all the time! I did try to stock up on a few things though. I’m looking forward to getting back into the crafting swing of things!!!
I’ll be linking up to these great linky parties!
