Girl's Room Gallery Wall | A Diamond in the Stuff

It’s hard to believe, but my “little” girl is turning 10 next month. I can’t handle it so I’m going to quickly move on and not ACTUALLY think about that. It was pretty evident that she needed to have a little “big” girl sprucing up in her room. She has had the same theme in her room since she was born; a garden theme. Up until this point it was pink, green, and white. It was also very little girl. Which seemed fine until we all realized she will soon be an official tween. So it was time I asked her if an update was in order. Of course she jumped at the chance and surprising to me, she still wanted the “garden theme” but she had something else in mind for her color pallet.

She wanted hot pink, aqua, and gold for her new room and this mama was totally on board. There was a huge, long blank wall in her room so I decided a great way to upgrade her room would be to add an awesome Girl’s Room Gallery Wall. It would be a great way to bring in her new color pallet and add some awesome new items too.

Amazingly I had to buy hardly anything to complete this gallery wall, which is always a plus. Two of the items I did buy were the hot pink frame (which was black and I spray painted it) and the metal flowers (which I also spray painted). The last thing I bought was the fabric used in the embroidery hoop and as the backing for a couple frames. That’s it. Not too shabby right? Everything else I had on hand. All I had to do was round them all up and paint them in her new color scheme.

I created three wood signs for the wall with my Silhouette Cameo. Two just with scrap wood that was in my garage and one with a laser cut frame from Michael’s that I’ve had forever. I just picked a few quotes that I saw and fell in love with for her room. If you want to know how I make my signs check out the tutorials HERE, HERE, and HERE.

I wanted to play with texture, materials, patterns, and colors. So I had some fun with things when deciding what made it up on the wall. I included things like a metal gate, a bird house, and a bird’s nest amongst  picture frames, wood signs, and more! Oh and of course the chalkboard which I figured would be a great addition for her to write her own fun notes on.

I battled the arrangement a bit at the beginning but everything really came together well in the end. Actually it all came together better than I had imagined.

The colors are more grown up but still so girly. And the BEST part? My daughter just loves loves it. If you come over to our house, chances are she will drag you back to her room to show it off. Which for me, it can’t get any better than that.

The room makeover is coming along pretty well now, getting the Gallery Wall done was the biggest part. Once I get the rest of the room wrapped up I’ll share the whole sha-bang on the blog! So what do you think? Know any tweens that would love this room?

My last project up on the blog is my Spring Monogram Mantel. I’m a sucker for a fresh new mantel and this one is basically everything I wanted!

For whatever reason I had these three elements in my head and thought it would make a cute wall hanging. I sometimes wonder where these ideas come from? There are times when I see things that other people have made and I want to duplicate it, other times I just have these ideas pop in my head and I can’t seem to shake them. I think this project came about by seeing different elements of a bunch of different projects, it all melded in my mind and I came up with this….

First I needed a large oval frame. Do you know how hard it is to find an oval frame??? I searched thrift store after thrift store, thinking surely….eventually I would find ONE. Nope. I finally found an oval mirror for $11 and change at Big Lots! In my haste to start this project I of course forgot to take the elusive “before” picture of the frame. So I quickly snapped this shot of the back of the frame so you can see the “lovely” gold color that it originally was. I primed and painted the frame a matte black….it was a vast improvement!
I then gathered all my other supplies. I used Mod Podge to attach burlap to the front of the removable back of the frame. I also used Mod Podge to attach the moss to the “C” monogram.

All I needed to do next was attach the “C” to the burlap board with hot glue and put the backing back in the frame. I added a simple black ribbon and called it done.
I am very happy with it and have it hanging over my HUTCH ! Leave me a comment and let me know what you think!
