The other day I wrote about finding a bunch of paper doilies at the thrift store. I have some plans for a lot of them but I have so many I wanted to come up with some more projects for them. While I was preparing for my last craft show I was looking at a book page wreath I had done and thinking about my paper doilies…..and it hit me! A paper doily wreath!

Once I was finally able to tackle this project I gathered up my supplies:

A bunch of paper doilies (I ended up only using the smaller ones)

Half of a foam wreath form (From the $1 store and split in two)

Ribbon (I used a satin ribbon in a cream color)

Hot Glue

I wrapped the cut wreath form in the ribbon, gluing as I went along. This will serve as the base for your wreath.

Here’s a little tutorial on how I rolled up my doilies (This is also how I roll my sheet music or book pages for wreaths):

I grab both sides of the doily and use my left hand to come over the top of my right hand. I twist the doily as I come around into a cone shape. You may need to tighten or loosen your roll, just depending on the look you are going for. Don’t stress if you need to unroll it and practice a little bit before you get the hang of it. Once you do, it’s pretty easy!

Once I had a big pile of doily cones I started gluing them to the ribbon covered wreath form. I used hot glue to attach each cone to the wreath. I tried to have all of the cones meet up evenly in the middle of the wreath by using a small round glass in the center. I ended up doing two layers of doilies because I liked how full and beautiful it looked!

I cut the middle out of another large doily to glue into the center of the wreath. This helps cover any imperfections in the middle and adds a little more detail.

Just look at all that lacey detail, it’s so graceful and pretty!!! It’s very shabby chic and full of feminine details! I could see it in a little girls room or in a French cottage. It’s so dreamy, I think I have a wreath crush!!!
