Quick and Easy Monster Wreath
So I have caught whatever cold my kids have! The weather has been nuts around here….crazy hot, then windy, then cold and wet. It’s a wonder we’re all sick. Or it could of been when my son sneezed in my mouth….ya that may of sent me over the germ edge!!!
Anyways, this week I went into my husbands squadron to help decorate their offices. Since we don’t really like the “scary” side of Halloween, I decided to go with a silly monster theme. I came up with this cute Monster Wreath and I made it for $4.
What you need:

-Small grapevine wreath

-2 feather boas

-Ping Pong balls

-Sharpie marker or paint pen

I got all my supplies at the Dollar Tree and whipped the Monster Wreath up in 10 minutes. I just used a black permanent marker on the ping pong balls to make they eyes. I ended up using hot glue to attach everything. Didn’t it turn out cute??? It’s now hanging in my husband’s office. Hopefully I will get to show you all the rest of his office decorations soon!

You may have seen my Poison Apple Halloween Wreath posted over at Crafts Unleashed last month, but in case you missed it I’m posting it here!!!
Personally I am not a huge fan of the “darker” side of Halloween. You won’t find any skeletons, tombstones, or zombies at my house this time of year. I prefer to keep things whimsical and fun. While thinking of ideas for a fabulous Halloween wreath, the thought of Disney Villains came to mind. After all, the queen from Snow White makes the top 10 movie villains of all time. So my Poison Apple Halloween Wreath was born.
All of the supplies, I got at Consumer Crafts. Here’s what you need:

Black wreath

Faux Green Apples
Paper Mache Hand

Craft paints (Black & Flesh Colored)

Black Glitter

Hot Glue & Glue Gun

I wanted to take one of the faux apples and make it look like the apple that was poisoned by the evil queen in Snow White. The first thing I did was paint an outline of the “face” onto the apple.

Once that was dry I filled in the apple with black paint, working around the outlined face. Before the paint could dry, I added some black glitter for a little shine and shimmer.

I painted the paper mache hand with the flesh colored paint. I wanted the faux hand to resemble the evil queen’s outstretched hand, offering the poison apple to Snow White.
After the paint and glitter was dry I hot glued the poison apple to the paper mache hand. Then I gathered up the rest of the apples and glued them to the black wreath along with the hand.
I staggered the apples throughout the wreath, nestling them into the black pine needles.
I was able to use the wire frame of the wreath to hold the hand and poison apple in place along with the use of the hot glue.

I think the Poison Apple Halloween Wreath has just the right amount of darkness and whimsy.

What’s your Halloween decoration style?
