If there’s one thing I can not pass up it’s old windows. The possibility and options are endless. Fortunately I have been very lucky to have quite a few windows given to me. That has led to an ever growing pile of them in my garage and I came to the quick conclusion that I needed to start chipping away at them. Some of the windows have glass, some don’t. For the windows that have intact glass I really hate to remove it if I don’t have to, so this leaves me with trying to come up with projects that include the glass. After some thought I decided one of my windows had to become a mirror. It doesn’t get much for simple than this Simple Window Pane Mirror.

I pulled out a window that I thought would make a great mirror and got it cleaned up. I have seen Krylon Looking Glass spray paint used to make all kinds of faux mirror-like and mecury glass finishes, I thought it would be the perfect idea for this project. The first thing I did was choose the side of the window that I wanted to be the “front” of the mirror, then I flipped the window over to spray the back of the glass. It took about 5 light coats so that the glass was no longer transparent.

I absolutely love the way it came out. The mirror has a very old antique look, still completely reflective but it has this smoky look to it.

Here is a closer look so you can see it’s finish (well as good as a camera can provide). It is the perfect match for the old chippy window. This spray paint really is some awesome stuff, it’s incredible that a can of spray paint can turn glass into a mirrored surface!

I think this window was the perfect pick for this project.
