I am still on my moss high from making my Moss Birdhouses. I am absolutely loving them and I am chomping at the bit to do some more moss crafting. So I started looking around my house for some more inspiration, things I could cover with moss. I scoped some stars and instantly decided to make a Moss Covered Star.
A long time ago I scored several of these plastic stars at the 99 cent store. I have used them for crafting in various ways. The minute I spotted them in my stash I knew they would be my newest moss covered subject. I painted the star a mossy green to begin with. I didn’t want any rouge colors showing through the moss.
I had more of my moss roll leftover from the birdhouses. So I grabbed it and got started gluing. I simply added hot glue to one point of the star, pressed the moss down, and then cut the excess away once it was dry. I did this to all of the points on the star until it was completely covered.
It was pretty easy to make and I love how it turned out!!! I think it would look great hanging on the wall, maybe in a fun wall gallery. Or propped up on a bookshelf to add a pop of greenery, without the hassle of watering it!!!
Doesn’t it look so cute next to my little birdhouse???

Moss Birdhouses http://adiamondinthestuff.com/2013/03/moss-birdhouses.html http://adiamondinthestuff.com/2013/03/moss-birdhouses.html#comments Fri, 01 Mar 2013 08:00:00 +0000 http://174.132.189.156/~adits/2013/03/moss-birdhouses.html
The weather here is gorgeous. The sun is shining, the wild flowers are blooming, and Spring seems to have already arrived. All these changes have put me in the mood for some Spring crafting. I have always been a huge fan of moss, but this year I have a sneaking suspicion that it will be making several appearances. I couldn’t contain myself anymore and decided to create some Moss Birdhouses.
I picked up a couple craft wood birdhouses at the craft store. I decided to grab two different sizes, I figured they would look nice sitting next to each other on a shelf.
Using some white craft paint, I painted the birdhouses except the roofs. I figured since you wouldn’t be able to see them there was no point in painting them. I ended up doing a couple coats of paint to completely cover the wood.
Then it was time to break out the roll of moss. Warning to those who have not used sheet moss before: it will get messy!!! The awesome thing about it is the mesh backing. It makes it easy to measure out the exact size you need and cut it to fit.
I cut out the exact size of sheet moss that I needed and used some hot glue to attach it to the roof of the birdhouse. Be careful with this step. It’s very easy to burn your fingers with hot glue through the moss. Trust me.
Your left with two super adorable moss covered birdhouses!!! Easy right??? But so beautiful and just perfect for Spring!!!
These turned out exactly how I had them pictured in my head. Now to find them a home! I just love these sweet little Moss Birdhouses!!! Don’t you???

Moss Wreath http://adiamondinthestuff.com/2011/03/moss-wreath.html http://adiamondinthestuff.com/2011/03/moss-wreath.html#comments Fri, 04 Mar 2011 14:21:00 +0000 http://174.132.189.156/~adits/2011/03/moss-wreath.html
I know a lot of places aren’t very green right now, probably mostly covered in white still. We lived in North Dakota for 4 years, so I know that even though it may be “Spring” doesn’t mean it looks or feels like Spring! When we braved the frozen tundra I often tried (usually in vain) to will the snow away and to will the warm weather to come.
I wanted to make a green and mossy wreath to welcome the coming of Spring. I grabbed a grapevine wreath and a bunch of moss I had laying around. I used hot glue to attach the moss, working as I went filling in holes with different kinds of moss to mix things up.
I wanted to add some butterflies and dragonflies but I didn’t really like the look of the ones they had at Michael’s. I wanted them to have a more neutral, subdue look. So I pulled out some of my DecoArt supply and painted them.
I added a few nests with eggs to one side of the wreath and scattered the painted butterflies and dragonflies. I took some fake branches and twisted them around and through the wreath.
It’s very Springy and I’m super happy with it! Although I don’t think it’s going to stay on the front door. I think it’s going to make it’s way inside, stay tuned to see where it lands!
