My Spring Mantel {Updated} http://adiamondinthestuff.com/2013/03/my-spring-mantel-updated.html http://adiamondinthestuff.com/2013/03/my-spring-mantel-updated.html#comments Thu, 14 Mar 2013 21:00:00 +0000 http://174.132.189.156/~adits/2013/03/my-spring-mantel-updated.html
A couple years ago (wow has it been that long???) I created my moss covered Spring Mantel. Well as I usually do, I got restless and decided that this year it needed a little change up!!! I seem to actually reject anything that remains the same for too long, it’s probably the military wife in me. On any account….here’s My Spring Mantel {Updated}!!!
I was kinda over the bunnies that I have used in years past. Can’t really tell ya why….the bunnies are cute and all but they needed to go! A little color was needed on the mantel, so I decided to add some faux robin’s eggs to a glass apothecary jar. There is also a little nest nestled next to the apothecary jar with a few more eggs.
I added my two Moss Birdhouses that I made a couple weeks ago. Because we obviously needed more moss around here right??? Right. They look perfect next to my Moss Wreath.
Now my Spring Mantel contains some of my most favorite Springtime things: moss, birdhouses, nests, and robin’s eggs.

My Springy Mantel http://adiamondinthestuff.com/2011/03/my-springy-mantle.html http://adiamondinthestuff.com/2011/03/my-springy-mantle.html#comments Mon, 07 Mar 2011 22:23:00 +0000 http://174.132.189.156/~adits/2011/03/my-springy-mantel.html So I’ve moved some things around and I *think* I’ve found permanent homes for my new Spring mossy items!
I grabbed my Spring wreath and attached it to a chippy old window. I used a strip of muslin, looped it through the back of the wreath and tied it off with a bow.
Here’s the right side of the mantel. I love the little bunnies!
Now my hutch and front door are looking pretty empty, I’ll need to work on that!
Here are close ups of the wonderfully chippy old window. It was a Craigslist find and I was going to paint it, but for now I’m loving it’s natural wear!
There you have it, my new Springy green mossy mantel! I love it, so green and fresh!

Moss Wreath http://adiamondinthestuff.com/2011/03/moss-wreath.html http://adiamondinthestuff.com/2011/03/moss-wreath.html#comments Fri, 04 Mar 2011 14:21:00 +0000 http://174.132.189.156/~adits/2011/03/moss-wreath.html
I know a lot of places aren’t very green right now, probably mostly covered in white still. We lived in North Dakota for 4 years, so I know that even though it may be “Spring” doesn’t mean it looks or feels like Spring! When we braved the frozen tundra I often tried (usually in vain) to will the snow away and to will the warm weather to come.
I wanted to make a green and mossy wreath to welcome the coming of Spring. I grabbed a grapevine wreath and a bunch of moss I had laying around. I used hot glue to attach the moss, working as I went filling in holes with different kinds of moss to mix things up.
I wanted to add some butterflies and dragonflies but I didn’t really like the look of the ones they had at Michael’s. I wanted them to have a more neutral, subdue look. So I pulled out some of my DecoArt supply and painted them.
I added a few nests with eggs to one side of the wreath and scattered the painted butterflies and dragonflies. I took some fake branches and twisted them around and through the wreath.
It’s very Springy and I’m super happy with it! Although I don’t think it’s going to stay on the front door. I think it’s going to make it’s way inside, stay tuned to see where it lands!
