We are getting settled into our new home. Maybe a little slower than I would like but we have actually made a lot of progress! It’s so nice to be able to do whatever we want to this home because, this time around, it’s all ours.

I have hesitated to decorate for Fall inside the house until it is more put together. However I was just itching to bring some Autumn into world. So I decided to work a a few outdoor projects in between unpacking boxes and organizing my butt off.

Outdoor Pumpkin Topiaries

I knew I wanted to create some fun Fall topiaries for my two clearanced Michael’s urns. My only limitation was I didn’t want to spend a ton of money because I was doing plenty of that on new things for the house. So I scooped up a few $5 pumpkins and some Fall leaf garland on sale.

I found that the pumpkins needed a little…boost…to get them to sit right in the urns. It just so happened that I have a ton of packing paper lying around the house right now. A. Ton. So I crumpled some up and put it into each urn.

After I took the stem off of the larger pumpkin, I placed it into the urn on top of the crumpled paper.

Once the large pumpkin was in place I wrapped some of the garland around it. I placed the garland just under the pumpkin, resting on the top of the urn.

The smaller pumpkin was attached to the larger one using some “earthquake” putty (I wanted it all to be temporary). I swear this putty is one of my favorite decorating tools!

You can’t really get anymore simple than that. Pretty inexpensive too, I ended up spending around $25 for all of it.

I love love pulling into my driveway now and seeing these on either side of my entryway. It brings just the touch of Fall to our home that I was looking for.

I hope you enjoyed my Outdoor Pumpkin Topiaries, I am so glad to be back creating and blogging. Feels great. See y’all soon with another pumpkin project….

Glitter {Pumpkin} Topiary http://adiamondinthestuff.com/2011/10/glitter-pumpkin-topiary.html http://adiamondinthestuff.com/2011/10/glitter-pumpkin-topiary.html#comments Fri, 07 Oct 2011 07:00:00 +0000 http://174.132.189.156/~adits/2011/10/glitter-pumpkin-topiary.html
When planning my Halloween decor I started to think about what I wanted to make for our front porch. I don’t usually do a lot of decorations outside but I like to at least have a fun wreath on the door and something in the flower pot outside my front door. I already have a wreath so I just needed to figure out what was going into the flower pot.
There are so many awesome pumpkin topiaries out there, I decided to try my hand at one for the front porch. I bought 3 foam pumpkins on sale at Micheal’s (yay for 50% off sales), some wood letters, and my go to Fall staple this year: Krylon’s Glitter Blast spray paint! I choose Orange Burst and Starry Night for this project.

I painted two of the pumpkins with the orange glitter spray paint and the other with the black. I cut off the stems of two of the lower pumpkins so that they could stack on top of each other. I debated how I wanted to attach the pumpkins to each other and I just ended up hot gluing them all to each other.

Since I wanted to use a word on the front of the pumpkins, it obviously needed to be only 3 letters. So using “BOO” seemed like a no brainer! I painted the wood letters with the same glitter paint, also alternating the colors. I used my trusty glue gun again to attach the letters to the pumpkins.

I added a little sparkly orange ribbon in between each pumpkin to hide some of the hot glue overflow add some extra cuteness! Can’t go wrong with a little extra sparkle right? As you can tell I’m loving the sparkle this Fall! I wonder if this trend will carry on into my Christmas projects……probably!

Is that enough glitter for ya?
