It’s not really a necessity of life, more like just another place to pile up knick knacks! I do love the look of a sofa table though, so when my mom was moving and getting rid of some things I jumped at the chance to inherit her sofa table!
It’s in great condition and I just LOVE the lines and curves! Just not a BIG fan of the oak. I’m sure every time I paint wood furniture a little part of my husband dies inside! He is oh so supportive though and usually ends up loving my finished product!
There was a notch cut out all around the top of the table that made me want to do something to the top. It sat in my garage for a bit while I thought it over. Sometimes I just have to let projects sit for a bit while I make up my mind. It finally came to me that I wanted to use sheet music. There is a good amount of sheet music floating around the blog world these days and for good reason! It’s beautiful!
I decided to tea stain my sheet music. Ideally I would have a huge stack of beautiful antique sheet music with just the perfect amount of aging. Until I can figure out how to make the world perfect, I have to stick to tea staining my paper!
I painted the table heirloom white by Rustoleum. I really love this color, it’s such a beautiful creamy white!! I used some polycrylic on top of the paint once it was fully dry. This will give it a little shine and protect it from whatever my family can throw at it (hopefully).
Once all the papers were dry it was time to add them to the table. First I got it all laid out and cut how I wanted it. I am trying to be a more patient worker, measure twice and cut once right??? I used my ole stand by, Mod Podge, to attach the sheet music.
I am very happy with the way that it all turned out!!! It’s probably strange how much I L O V E some of my projects, but I just can’t help it! This is definitely one that I will be cherishing for a long time!!! And because I can’t get enough of it….here’s one last shot…..
Hope you enjoy my table as much as I do!!!
