If you’re reading this you already know I have a blog! What you may or may not know is I make lots of home decor goodies for sale. I sell through a Facebook page and at local shows. I have times with no shows and slow business, then I have times with back to back shows and tons of orders! It’s feast or famine around here. When business is busy I have little to no time to do projects for me and my home. Can’t really complain though right? So I told you all that to tell you this, it took me 2 years to solve this spot in my home. 2 years people. Better late than never? Here is my Small and Simply Entryway.

So I had this awkward space in our home, right inside our front door. I have a huge mirror to the left of the front door so I didn’t want another one there. I have my Crib Bench to the right of the door, in front of the window. So I didn’t want to add a bulky piece of furniture to clutter up the entryway. I was stumped. For TWO years. Then I had some inspiration hit and I knew what would be perfect for this space.

It started with some barn wood from my garage. We cut it to size and I cleaned it up a bit. Then I used some of my DIY Wood Stain on it to darken it up a bit.

I wanted to turn that old barn wood into a shelf for my entryway. That meant I needed something to hold the shelf up. I thought about waiting to find some chippy old corbels in an antique store someone but honestly that could take forever and I had already waiting 2 years to get this area DONE. So I picked up these two wood corbels at Home Depot and they were perfect for he area. I painted them with Heirloom White by Rustoleum and attached the wood board to the corbels for easy installing.

These corbels came with easy to hang hardware on the back, so hanging the shelf on the wall was easy peasy. So pretty right?

A couple little lovlies on the shelf and a beautiful framed sign above completes it.

Oh about that sign! I created this faux chalkboard sign specifically for my entryway. I am going to do a little tutorial on a separate post so you can see exactly how I made it. Oh and it’s also easy peasy!

Now I feel like the area is finally complete. I didn’t want it to be overwhelming as people came in and I still wanted space to kick off our shoes! I mean, I’m a realist!

It will be a great spot to throw keys on your way in and that wall finally feels complete. Stay tuned for the faux chalkboard tutorial and thanks for check out My Small and Simple Entryway.
