I know a lot of you may still be surrounded by snow and cold but Spring is just around the corner.  Even if it’s a little further off for some of us, it’s still a great time to start bringing Spring into our space. For me, Spring seems to bring a renewed sense of fresh starts and new beginnings. It’s usually time for Spring cleaning, organizing, and new growth.

For Spring I like to decorate with those things in mind. I keep things muted usually in colors that remind me of a Robin’s nest. Of course I incorporate a good amount of moss too. I love moss and Spring is a great excuse to bring it out in full force! I have decided to round up some of my favorite and most popular Spring DIY projects to share with all of you.

I love it there, but now my front door is naked again. What’s a crafty girl to do? Ah yes, make another wreath!  You may of seen this post over at The CSI Project last week. Just in case you missed it, here ya go:

I started out with a square of grass from Hobby Lobby.
I cut out the middle section, making a grass “frame”.
Next I grabbed a couple bags of plastic eggs, also from Hobby Lobby.
I opened them all up and placed them on my “painting board”. Nice huh? They all got a good coat of primer and half were painted cream with the other half getting painted my new Spring favorite, Peakaboo Blue by Krylon.
The eggs needed some speckles so I mixed up some brown paint and water. Using a paint brush I “flicked” the paint over the painted eggs.
I glued all the finished eggs to the grass wreath, alternating colors as I went. Trying to be “random” is sometimes hard for me; I can be a little OCD when it comes to my projects.
I added a nest to the corner and placed one of the speckled blue eggs inside. A painted butterfly is sitting perched on the side of the nest.
As you can see, I took a picture frame and painted it the same blue as the eggs. I hung the grass wreath to the blue frame with a bit of muslin tied off in a bow.
So there you have it, my new Spring wreath! It reminds me of an Easter egg hunt.
I’m going to try and keep this one on my front door!

Moss Wreath http://adiamondinthestuff.com/2011/03/moss-wreath.html http://adiamondinthestuff.com/2011/03/moss-wreath.html#comments Fri, 04 Mar 2011 14:21:00 +0000 http://174.132.189.156/~adits/2011/03/moss-wreath.html
I know a lot of places aren’t very green right now, probably mostly covered in white still. We lived in North Dakota for 4 years, so I know that even though it may be “Spring” doesn’t mean it looks or feels like Spring! When we braved the frozen tundra I often tried (usually in vain) to will the snow away and to will the warm weather to come.
I wanted to make a green and mossy wreath to welcome the coming of Spring. I grabbed a grapevine wreath and a bunch of moss I had laying around. I used hot glue to attach the moss, working as I went filling in holes with different kinds of moss to mix things up.
I wanted to add some butterflies and dragonflies but I didn’t really like the look of the ones they had at Michael’s. I wanted them to have a more neutral, subdue look. So I pulled out some of my DecoArt supply and painted them.
I added a few nests with eggs to one side of the wreath and scattered the painted butterflies and dragonflies. I took some fake branches and twisted them around and through the wreath.
It’s very Springy and I’m super happy with it! Although I don’t think it’s going to stay on the front door. I think it’s going to make it’s way inside, stay tuned to see where it lands!
