Do you have a pile of ruined clothing lying around in your house? I do. Various articles of clothing have been ruined for various reasons and I just can’t bring myself to throwing them away. They may have a stain that I just can’t get rid of but otherwise the rest of the item is fine. Well I finally found a project to do with one of them!!!

I started with this cotton t-shirt. It was a cute shirt that I loved (minus the wrinkles, remember the PILE of discarded clothing).

I was so bummed when a new deodorant stained the underarms! So into the pile it went! Until now!

The first thing I did was grab the scissors and trim off the bottom hem.

Then I proceeded to cut strips all the way up the shirt, until just under the armpits (which works out nice since that’s where the problem area is). I varied the sizes of the strips, not for any particular reason other than to get some variation in the strips.

I took all the cut strips and pulled and stretched them. Once they are stretched they turn into themselves. I them grabbed one of the strips and wrapped it around the rest of the strips, keeping them all together.

Ta da!!! A fashionable and different necklace or scarf out of a discarded shirt! Imagine it with a pretty broach clipped to one side for a little fun!

You can double it up for a different look, more like a cowl neck look.

You can even twist the scarf for another look!

It will make the perfect accessory this fall, layered over a t-shirt for interest or on top of a sweater for extra warmth. It’s super quick and easy, so go grab a shirt that doesn’t fit or is ruined (I’m sure you have at least one lying around) and try this for yourself!!!
