Bar Stools & A Little Freak Out

Do you remember a few months back when I posted about my bar stool fail? Well I have saved them!!! They started out like looking like so many bar stools, just plane oak and pretty plain. They were cheap and I knew I could give them an easy face lift.
Easy! HA! I probably cursed myself by thinking it would be easy! I had them painted the way I wanted them, distressed how I wanted them, and all that was left to do was put some polycrylic on them and call it done!
Not so fast!
Apparently if it’s too cold out the polycrylic will fog and flake right off! Apparently! Well after some sanding and more sanding, repainting, and some more sanding I was back in business! Phew!

Yay much better! It’s so nice having bar stools now, my kids are loving it! I really like how they turned out!

On another note, I am still in a little shock that I’m in Crafting with the Stars! I don’t really have time to freak out….but I am! So I probably won’t be blogging as much as I have been while I work on the challenges. Voting on the first challenge begins on Monday, Jan 24th. That’s only 3 days away….3 DAYS! I must go now….lots of work….not a lot of time!

  1. Love the look of the bar stools! I had dining room chairs that looked just like what you did to the bar stools except I bought them that way!!! =)

  2. Wow! Those look amazing! Well worth the extra work!

  3. I did not know that! Too bad you had to expreience it the hard way! They look great! I have some I’ve been debating on painting white or black. I think I like the black. Did you spray paint??

  4. love the chairs the end result was great..

  5. I have an oak pedestal table and 4 chairs that I want to paint. I am avoiding the chairs like the plague cause I they have all the spindles plus even more detail. Did you sand it all first? They really look great!

  6. Love the stools!! They look great! Johnnie

  7. Beth~ Yes I did use spray paint. It was the easiest for me to get coverage on all the different spindles.

Cyndi~ I used a deglosser on them first and it got some of the “shine” off but I did go back and do some actual sanding as well.

  8. Those turned out great! I love the black instead of the oak… very nice!

  9. Parabéns por seus trabalhos de transformação. Também gosto muito dessa tarefa maravilhosa de criar. Realmente muito bom.
