I will freely admit that I don’t have a lot of fun in the kitchen. Rarely am I inspired to get creative in the kitchen. However, every once in awhile I get a crazy urge to get  in there and whip something fun up. My son is in kindergarten and every month he has a scheduled day that he is supposed to bring snack for his classmates. This month I felt inspired to make something fun for him to bring, so I made some St Patrick’s Day Mini Donuts!!!

Easy Christmas Donuts

A couple Christmas’ ago I shared these Easy Donuts that I made. Check out that post if you want the recipe and the play by play for how I make my donuts!

I changed up the frosting for these donuts too. I still covered them in the powered sugar glaze and let them dry. Then I melted a can of store bought frosting in a microwave safe bowl and dipped the tops of the donuts in the frosting. It created a great layer of frosting and I mean, who doesn’t love frosting?

Oh and sprinkles! I decided in the spirit of St Patrick’s Day to add some rainbow sprinkles to the donuts.

It may be hard to tell in the photos but I also made the donuts green!

These make the perfect little treats for all the kids to share!

Even though I don’t often make these kind of goodies, I love when I do. It’s a great feeling to make something special for the kiddos. Especially something this adorable and YUMMY!!!!

Hope you enjoyed my St Patrick’s Day Mini Donuts!!! What treats do you like to make for St Patrick’s Day?

Easy Christmas Donuts {With BabyCakes} http://adiamondinthestuff.com/2012/12/easy-christmas-donuts-with-babycakes.html http://adiamondinthestuff.com/2012/12/easy-christmas-donuts-with-babycakes.html#comments Mon, 24 Dec 2012 13:00:00 +0000 http://174.132.189.156/~adits/2012/12/easy-christmas-donuts-with-babycakes.html
HAPPY CHRISTMAS EVE!!!!
I made some super yummy, super cute, and super easy donuts for Christmas. These mini donuts would be just perfect for a fun Christmas morning treat! I will share how I made my Easy Christmas Donuts with my BabyCakes mini donut maker!
First of all, let me introduce you to my totally awesome BabyCakes donut maker. It’s easy to use and makes the cutest little donuts.

Here is the recipe that I used:

1 cup flour
1/2 cup sugar
1 tbsp baking powder
1 egg
1/2 cup milk
1/2 tsp vanilla
4 tbsp cooking oil

Directions:Stir dry ingredients together.  Add egg, vanilla and milk and beat 1 minute with an electric mixer or by hand.  Add oil and continue to beat 1 minute.

Before I put the donut batter into the BabyCakes maker, I oiled it up with some cooking oil and then added some cooking spray. I added more cooking spray after each batch; I didn’t want to have any sticking issues at all!

Once the donut maker was properly oiled and heated up it was time to make the donuts!!! I simply spooned a heaping tablespoon full of batter into each donut mold. I closed the lid and waited about 5-6 minutes until the were slightly golden brown. Then I popped them out with a fork.

When I took them out of the donut maker I placed them on a cooling rack. Then I mixed up a glaze for the donuts, partly to add a sweet topping to the donuts and partly to lock in the freshness.
Here is the recipe for the glaze:
1 cup powdered sugar
1 tsp vanilla
2 tbsp water
Directions:
Mix all of the ingredients together. The mixture will be runny. Coat the donuts entirely and then return them to the cooling rack. You may want to place something under the cooling rack to catch the drippings.
If you want, that can be the end. Or you can add some more frosting, sprinkles, or whatever your hearts desire! I decided to add some Christmas sprinkles for the kiddos.
I can not tell you how fluffy and delicious these little donuts are!!! The kids love them. The adults love them.
Are you drooling yet???
I think these would be perfect for Christmas morning!!! If you don’t have a BabyCakes Donut Maker, I highly recommend one. Super easy to use and super fun too! I can’t wait to try out some more flavors and icing combinations!!!
