My Halloween Mantle

I have been so busy with the craft fair and working on other projects that my mantle was a bit delayed in transitioning into it’s Halloween makeover! But I finally think I have it the way I want it. Here is what it looked like before with the “Back to School” theme:
For the Halloween inspired mantle I used a few items that I already had around and I created a few things to finish things out. Here it is in all it’s black and orange glory:
I took some leftover greenery that I had and sprayed it black. See that cute little orange bird cage? I got that in the $1 section at Michael’s and I put a black crow inside! Love it!

I found this pumpkin at a consignment store and gave it a coat of metallic spray and distressed it with some black glaze. I got those gargoyles at the $1 store. I am not really into the “Scary” side of Halloween but I thought this would add just the right amount of spooky!
You may recognize the glass pumpkin from this post. I added some books that I got at the thrift store in coordinating colors. I distressed them as I couldn’t find any really old raggedy books, so I created my own!

I took some burlap that I had leftover from my monogram wall art and cut a section to make a “runner” across the top of the mantle. I wanted to try out a pennant banner and thought that I would have it match the runner. I cut out some burlap triangles and added some ribbon to the tops with fabri tac (I love this stuff….it has helped this non-sewer quite a bit). I cut out some letters with my Cricut and strung it all together with some twine.

Here’s one last look…..

What do you think of my Halloween mantle transformation?
