Burlap, Moss, and a Monogram

For whatever reason I had these three elements in my head and thought it would make a cute wall hanging. I sometimes wonder where these ideas come from? There are times when I see things that other people have made and I want to duplicate it, other times I just have these ideas pop in my head and I can’t seem to shake them. I think this project came about by seeing different elements of a bunch of different projects, it all melded in my mind and I came up with this….

First I needed a large oval frame. Do you know how hard it is to find an oval frame??? I searched thrift store after thrift store, thinking surely….eventually I would find ONE. Nope. I finally found an oval mirror for $11 and change at Big Lots! In my haste to start this project I of course forgot to take the elusive “before” picture of the frame. So I quickly snapped this shot of the back of the frame so you can see the “lovely” gold color that it originally was. I primed and painted the frame a matte black….it was a vast improvement!
I then gathered all my other supplies. I used Mod Podge to attach burlap to the front of the removable back of the frame. I also used Mod Podge to attach the moss to the “C” monogram.

All I needed to do next was attach the “C” to the burlap board with hot glue and put the backing back in the frame. I added a simple black ribbon and called it done.
I am very happy with it and have it hanging over my HUTCH ! Leave me a comment and let me know what you think!
