A Spooktacular Mantel

Well okay, maybe it’s not all that SPOOKY but it’s my new Halloween mantel!!! I have issues with the scary and morbid side of Halloween and I much prefer classic and cute. No skeletons, ghosts, or goblins here!

I’ve actually been primping and changing up this look for several days now. I think it’s finally the way I want it! I shot for a basic pallet of orange, black, and white to keep things simple and pulled together.

I took a foam pumpkin and painted it an off white (I’m loving white pumpkins this year). It needed something more, so I grabbed some wood numbers and painted them a glittery black. I really like incorporating the “31” somewhere in my Halloween decor. If I was going to have sparkly numbers than I needed a sparkly black bird, right? My son calls him “Mr Edelweiss” from Nanny McPhee II. Mr Edelweiss is sitting perched in a spanish moss nest atop some old distressed books.

Since I’m loving Krylon’s Glitter Blast, I decided to glitter up a couple craft pumpkins. I put them on top of a couple candle holders for some variation of height. Last year I painted some leftover greenery with black spray paint and popped them in a white pitcher.

Have you heard of Wuslu? It’s an awesome site that has a deal a day….but unlike so many other deal a day websites, this one has some pretty amazing home decor items. I found this Halloween subway wall art and knew that it had to be mine

I added a few doilies, including a paper doily banner, to add some more texture to the mantel. Plus I love adding a little vintage touch to things! I think it all came together well!!!

So there you have it! Another holiday, another mantel makeover!!!
