When it comes to laundry I am pretty particular. I end up hanging a good amount of my clothes to dry. The new house didn’t have anywhere set up for easy clothes hanging, so I started brainstorming. At first I thought about making something from scratch…..and then I remembered an old crib spring I had in the garage.
And so my Crib Spring Drying Rack was born….
First I grabbed the crib spring out of the garage primed and painted it aqua! Then I bought 4 ceiling hooks and some chain to hang the crib spring.
The hubby helped get the hooks in the ceiling and hoisted this baby up! I love how much hanging room I have now!
Maybe not the best part, but a pretty awesome part of this project is it only cost me the hooks and chains. I love love love repurposing!!!
I felt like the wall needed something else under the crib spring. I had a couple old wash boards and a box of wood hangers on hand that needed a place to go. So I decided to create a little fun typography wall with them and some craft letters.
Not only is my laundry room now a lot more functional but it’s a whole lot cuter too!
I love my repurposed Crib Spring Drying Rack and my “WASH” room decor too! I hope you enjoyed them too!!!
Linking up to these great link parties!!!
Very cute! I love how you repurposed the crib springs – brilliant ! Your WASH sign is adorable too.
Thank you so much Cecilia!!!
That is just the coolest EVER! And I love your WASH signs. I wish I could dress up my laundry space like this!
Jeanine
Thanks Jeanine!!! It’s still a work in progress but I love it!!!
That is genius! And looks awesome!
Thanks Rachel!!!!
Courtney…that is totally amazing!! You rocked this one girl!! And I love the wall decor too. This move was good for you. You are oooooozing creativity!!!
Thanks Diane! I also feel super inspired after moving! I think the deployment and move took over my brain and there was no where left for creativity! But now it’s just flowing….too much actually! Not enough hours in the day!!!
I seriously WANT that wash sign you made! Classy and junky all-in-one. Love it!

Great idea, wish I could get my hands on something similar!
Love this!!!!! Can you tell me what exact color aqua you used and where you found the washboards?
I used Krylon blue ocean breeze for the bed springs. The wash boards I found along the way in a couple junk/antique shops.
What a great idea. I love that but I love the WASH sign also, done with the wooden hangers….very nice.
Thank you so much Pam!!!
I love this! It looks so cool in there. I’m always short on space for air-drying clothes. Such a cool idea!
LOVE the wash sign!! How did you get the letters attached to the wash boards and what are the A and H on?
I used hot glue to attach the w and s to the washboards. I used some cardboard, covered it with fabric, glued the letters to it, and hung them with old hangers.
Just have to compliment you on your re-purposing creativity! I am cleaning out my parents’ house & preparing for a whole-house sale and HOPE that the people who come to the sale think like you do :).I actually have an old crib spring AND 2 washboards in the sale, so I might print out one of your photos & try to spur their thinking along…
…and thanks for mentioning the mirror spray paint in another post – I did not know that stuff existed! What fun!
I love how the “S” is different from the rest of the letters and stands out. Where did you find one with that design?
Actually all the letters are different, I got them all at Michael’s I believe.
Did you paint the letters? If so, what color did you use to paint them?
Yes I did. I used a black and I think Bahama blue by Americana.
Where could I find a old crib spring? I was thinking of putting Christmas lights on it to hang in a foyer and have it double as a dryer rack when needed. We have a tiny home so function and style are important.

Angie, I would suggest looking on online FB sales pages or craigslist. Maybe make a post looking for one! I have been able to find them on the curb for trash day. The old drop down side cribs can’t be used or sold so there are lots of people that are just tossing their old cribs out. Good luck!
Beautiful! What size are your letters and washboards? I just spray painted the old crib spring, can’t wait to get my letters! Thanks for the idea!!!!
What and awesome clever idea!!! I’m so glad I found your blog! I’ll be here for hours! LOL

Well thank you Sam!!! Glad you found me and hope you’ve enjoyed your look around!!!
Looks amazing! I have a crib spring in my garage right now aaaaaand aqua spray paint. When you say prime, do I have to sand and spray primer or just sand or just primer?
No I didn’t sand. You can use a special primer that with “etch” the metal for better adhesion. Good luck!
The wash board wording is gorgeous. I want this in my laundry room. Maybe it will make my partner use it then.

Ha ha well that’s one way to motivate doing laundry, a pretty laundry room!!!
How did you get the wood letters to stick to the wash boards?
