Cheap but Fabulous Autumn Decor

Now that it’s officially September I suppose it’s time to start thinking about leaves changing color and crisp cool fall days. Truth is we live on the central California coast and don’t have a lot of change with the seasons. So we sorta have to create our own celebration of the seasons.

My first fall craft of the season is these “Autumn” frames made with scrapbooking paper and $1 store frames. Here is what I started with:
I spray painted them all black, cut scrapbook paper in fall colors and patterns to size, and cut out the letters in various fonts and sizes. This is what I ended up with:
I am THRILLED with the way it turned out. I have it displayed on a window seal off the dining room. I can’t stop looking at it I love it so much! In the next several months I will make “Winter”, “Spring”, and “Summer” to go in the frames so I can change it up each season!

  31. Another great project! I may have to “borrow” this idea. They turned out GREAT! La

  32. Can you tell me how you did the letters? Im not bright that way. 🙂

  33. Cherie, I used my Cricut to cut out the letters or black cardstock. I used a couple different cartridges and several different fonts. You could always print out some letters off your computer and cut them out if you don’t have a circut, or the like! Also there are chipboard letters at craft stores that could work as well! HTH!!!

  34. Very Very cute. Great picture frames and a great idea. Thanks for sharing.

  35. Very nice

  36. Love, love, love it!! Off to the thrift stores to find frames.
    Found you on CSI

I love the idea of making a set for every season! Thank you so much I have been trying to figure out what to do with the blank wall above my bed!
