Primitive Apothecary Jars

So yesterday my internet was out. all. day. I can’t tell you how many times I headed to my laptop to look something up or do research on something just to be reminded that, for at least one day, I was living in the stone age! Okay maybe a bit dramatic, but what can I say? I feel very attached to my computer!
On to the project I intended to show you yesterday……I made this project with my apothecary jar out of junk in mind, but with a primitive twist!
I started out with these items: Two candlesticks, two round wooden bases, two small round discs, two finials and two smooth mason jars.
Everything is already glued together in
those pictures
using a good friend of mine:
Gorilla Glue!
Here is the project all put together after I painted the bases and tops black. I did some light distressing on the places I painted to add to the primitive feel.
I tied some raffia to the tops and added some more inside the jars. Some candles add a little warm glow, don’t worry they are battery operated!
The possibilities are endless for these rustic apothecary jars! I can just imagine them brimming with candy or other yummy goodies. Or filled with pretty soaps for your guests. Or a fun way to hold your sea shells, pebbles, or other found treasures.
What would you put in them?
