Fridge {Picture} Gallery & A Winner

School starts next week and the idea of getting back to a structured schedule both thrills and stresses me out. We’ve just had such a busy and odd summer that back to school has really creeped up on me. So I’ve had a huge desire to get organized in preparation. I have come to the determination that I must be a very boring person, but organizing makes me very happy. I’d actually rather organize than clean.
One area of my house that I love is my dry erase calendar on my fridge. But the rest of the fridge wasn’t always as organized and pretty looking. We would stick up random pictures that came through the house with magnets and clips.
I decided I wanted to be able to frame all the pictures. I scoured my stash for random small picture frames from the dollar store. I laid all the frames and the calendar out on the floor to see how I wanted the layout to be. Then I painted them all to match my kitchen decor.
I put a couple different kinds of magnets on the back of all the frames. It was just a trial and error sort of thing, I kept gluing until it stuck on the fridge.
I love how polished and organized it looks! Now every time I go to the fridge it makes me happy, not just because I have some red velvet frozen yogurt in there….but because it just looks so pretty!!!
Stay tuned for a couple more organizing posts this week!!!

    • What kind of magnets did you use? I used the large flat round ones and I used a few on each frame, especially the larger frames.

  45. Absolutely LOVE it!!!!

Brilliant idea. I love pictures and never have enough wall space to display. This is like a bonus spot! Just wondering, did you use spray paint or regular paint. I sometimes use spray paint for projects but have never used on frames. Already found my frames. Can’t wait to start. Oh and regular old Elmer’s glue? I’m off to the craft store as soon as I hear from you!

    • I used spray paint and hot glue for the magnets! Have fun!

      • Anne Marie Anabtawi says:

Please help. Where did you buy the magnets? I tried Home Depot and Michaels and they had small magnets but the lady said they were super strong. I also used industrial strength glue to glue the magnets but they don’t stay on the frig. They keep sliding down. I thought it was because some of the frames were heavy 8 by 10 and so I thought that was the problem but then I went back and saw you had different sizes. I spray painted all the frames and I’m so frustrated they don’t stay up. I didn’t use a glue gun. Don’t know if that’s it. But before I go buying a glue gun I wanted to ask you. Maybe I need to let the glue dry overnight. I don’t know.

        • Hi there Anne. I bought my magnets at Michael’s You can see the kind that I used in this post: http://adiamondinthestuff.com/2011/01/personal-art-gallery.html

Also in that post you can see that I was using much larger (and heavier) frames to put up on a metal sheet. I had to use quite a few magnets on the really heavy frames to get them to hold. Also, if using heavier frames I would stick with something like E6000 glue or Gorilla glue. I used hot glue on the really light weight frames for the fridge.

I hope some of that helps!!! Good luck!

          • Anne Marie Anabtawi says:

Thank you! I got the same magnets at Michaels. But I guess I will use more. I just used 4 on the 8 by 10. And I used the E6000 but I will try the gorilla glue. I’ll try again. You know how you just start something and want to finish it? Well that’s me. I just want this project done. Thx again!
