I have a pile of foam pumpkins from the dollar store. I have plans to alter most of them in some way. A bag of them were sitting in my craft room when I remembered a fun project I saw awhile back. Rachel from The Rachel Berry Blog used dollar store fruit and frames to create fun art. I thought this would fun with a Fall twist.
This is the little guy that I started out with.
I needed one side of the pumpkin to be flat so I used a knife to cut the back part of it off. When I say I, what I really mean is I got about 1 inch into the pumpkin before I asked the hubby to help. It wasn’t as easy as I thought it was going to be!!! He cut through the rest like it was butter.
Next I wanted to get the framed part of the project done. I grabbed a square frame from my stash and gave it a fresh coat of black paint. I then grabbed some orange and white scrapbook paper that I liked and popped it in the frame.
Once the frame was assembled I glued the cut pumpkin straight to the scrapbook paper, leaving out the glass. That’s it!!!
Here’s what it looks like from the side. I’m loving the 3D art and it’s a fun way to display your pumpkins!
I’m sure a lot of your are looking for ways to dress up your cheap pumpkins, give framing them a try!
Linking up to these great link parties!!!
That is tooo stinkin cute for words!.. I have a couple of extra faux-kins around here.. might have to give that a try!
