I have been so very busy gearing up for my show on November 2nd and working on Christmas projects. It’s always so overwhelming getting ready for shows but I have so much fun flying through all the “to do’s” on my list!!!
While perusing a local craft store I spotted this mini paper mache mannequin. I knew I had to get it, I already knew exactly what I was going to do with it. Luckily I have a pretty good size stash of random craft wood at home. I grabbed a wooden circle and small wooden candlestick and got to work.
Using Gorilla Glue Epoxy I glued the circle to the bottom of the candlestick and glued the top of the candlestick to the bottom of the mannequin. It was starting to take form at this point and I was loving it!!!
I also have a nice stack of old sheet music that I pulled out for this project. I picked a few sheets that I liked and started ripping then into pieces. Using Mod Podge I started gluing the sheet music to the mannequin. The paper was fairly thin so it adhered pretty easily, as long as I was careful and didn’t rip it.
The top part still needed….something. I decided to grab a wooden finial from my stash and painted it black along with the candlestick. Once the Mod Podge and paint was dry I covered the whole thing in another layer of Mod Podge to protect and seal.
There she is all done. Isn’t she beautiful???
I love the aged color of the sheet music. Like I’ve said before, I don’t know how to read sheet music and I’ve never played a musical instrument. Yet for whatever reason I’m in love with sheet music. She’s also got some great curves!!!
I love long necklaces and sometimes it seems like such a shame to just stick them all away where they can’t be seen or enjoyed. Don’t these necklaces look beautiful on her?
I’m taking her to my show on the 3rd to display some necklaces that I’ve made! Yes, I made some jewelry!!! I can’t wait to show you how my found object necklaces turned out!!!
Linking up to these great link parties!!!
Very cute!!
Aw, you made her so pretty with that sheet music on her! Absolutely love that idea!

Awwwwwwww-some lol. Reminds me of the life-size dress form I so desire. You did a great job and took beautiful photos.
So pretty and functional too. I’m sure you will get lots of requests for these as well as the necklaces!
So cute Courtney – this is such an amazing gift!
Oh my gosh this is awesome great job on it.
Hmmmmm…. I just saw some of these at a show on the 3rd and fell in love with them… And today I stumbled upon this on the world wide web. Coincidence? Your show wasn’t in Culloden, WV by any chance?
Great project, BTW. Gonna share on my FB
Just beautiful! I love the easy but elegant look. I love dress forms. Do you mind if I add this to my pinterest group? Thanks Elaine
@The Cardboard Crafter: Nope I’m in Cali!
@Junksterchick: Go right ahead and Pin away! ; )
What craft store did you find the cardboard bust at? I’d love to get my hands on some of these! Fabulous tutorial!!
I found it at a small local craft store, but check out this one from Consumer Crafts: http://www.consumercrafts.com/store/details/catalog/jewelry-displays/2873-528
It is awesome because it already has the base and top piece attached! Just decoupage the sheet music on and your done! : )
I’d love for you to share this on my Fresh Fridays Linky Party tomorrow!
