My {Junk} Jewelry

There are some things that I’m naturally drawn to. Old keys are one of those things. I have picked up various keys here and there over the years. Most of them are just laying around in a box so I decided to actually do something with some of them!
Every time I see keys on necklaces I am drawn to them, but they are usually just reproductions and not real keys. So I figured why not just make some one of a kind totally awesome necklaces myself! Mind you, I don’t consider myself a jewelry maker at all. I have a couple jewelry making tools and I’ve dabbled, but I am by no means an expert.
I found a really pretty faux pearl and wire chain on Etsy that I knew would look great with these old rusty skeleton keys. I bought a long stand of them to make a few different necklaces with. I also bought some basic ball chain and link chain to string up my keys.
I also had some old “normal” keys that I decided to bling up a bit. I used a strand of diamond jewels that I removed from another necklace. The jewels didn’t look right on the original necklace, but glued to these keys they look right at home!
It is fun to add some sparkle and feminine flair to otherwise industrial keys.
I made each necklace a little bit different mixing different style keys with different types of chains. They each have their own look and feel to them. Isn’t that pearl chain beautiful???
I love each one individually!!!

Oh, and of course I’m loving the sheet music mannequin to display my beautiful new creations!!!

I decided that I’m keeping some and selling some. They will be making appearances at my upcoming shows and on my Etsy shop!

Linking up to these great link party!!!
