DIY Paper Doily Invitations

When I plan an event I tend to get very picky over the little things. I have been known to obsess over every little detail. Usually I have to reign myself in at some point and chill out. I get very specific ideas in my head about how I want things to look, sometimes maybe too much. I am planning my oldest and dearest friends baby shower next month and I’m in planning overload! I needed invitations and I just wasn’t finding anything I loved. So I decided to make my own!
I found some craft paper blank invitations and envelopes at Hobby Lobby a few weeks ago. I simply typed up what I wanted the invites to say and printed them right on the inside of the cards. Easy peasy!
Then it was time to make it pretty! The baby shower is going to be a “garden party” and gender neutral (it’s a surprise!!!), so I wanted to go with a neutral feminine look. Awhile back I found a ton of paper doilies at the thrift store and I plan to use them in a few ways for the shower. So I started with the invites.
I cut the doilies to fit on the front of the invitations and glued them on. I love the lacy doilies against the natural craft paper. Simple but beautiful.
Not only are they totally adorable but inexpensive too!
Linking up to these great link parties!!!

  1. What a fantastic idea!! They are beautiful and charming.

  2. Love those, very pretty. And don’t you hate that some people don’t understand why those of us who agonize over every detail do it! Us creative sorts would never have to “reign” ourselves in if others understood how important those details are!
