We’ve been in our new house for a little over a year now, we’re all settled in and it has become our home now. When we were looking at homes I knew that finding something with a dedicated CRAFT ROOM was a must! Luckily we found the perfect home for us and it included a bonus 4th bedroom. It has to work double duty as my craft room and our guest room….but it provides plenty to space for all of this plus it comes with a bathroom and closet (for even more storage). Let’s get to My Craft Room Tour……
The room offered a few challenges; pitched roof, only one window for natural light, and having to fit a bed in it. Nothing was going to stop me from creating the craft room that I really wanted though. Now I realize that there is a lot to take in, in this photo. So I’ll take you through my room and point out some of the awesome features.
One of the most used area of my craft room is my Silhouette, vinyl, and tool storage. A simple storage cube serves as a great place to house my vinyl and Silhouette related items. I’m using a paper towel holder for a roll of transfer tape (this is one of my favorite crafting hacks).
This photo may be revealing the huge weakness I have for paint. What can I say, there are just so many beautiful colors out there! I am using an old shelf I found while thrifting. A little paint and it serves as the perfect place to house my paint collection. Another storage cube houses $1 bins; either from the Dollar Tree or Target Dollar Spot.
My craft room was lacking (a lot) in the storage department, so I had to create my own. As most of you probably know, shelving is usually not cheap. So you can imagine how thrilled I was to find these $15 metal shelves at Ikea. I ended up buying 4 of them. Which I of course filled with $1 bins. My office chair has been around for years. But I just keep updating it with new fabric every so often to freshen things up. It’s not the most chic chair but It’s comfortable and cute!
On the other side of my work table there is more Ikea shelving for lots of paper crafting. Shelving combined with a paper rack I scored from a scrapbook store. You may notice that work tabled or actually you probably notice the table covering.
A sweet friend who also happens to be an awesome seamstress made this work table cover for me. It has a oil cloth top so I can easily wipe up spills and creative messes. The fabric that hangs down off the sides provides a great way to hide ugly storage away. Plus the fun fabric adds color and texture to the room. I had fun using fabric in the room within the same color scheme but playing with fun prints.
My DIY work station is the heart of my craft room. I am often perched on a bar stool hovering over my latest project. My hubby and I made it with two storage cubs and a big piece of plywood. It has proven to be not only a great source of storage but the perfect work space.
As you may remember this room also has to double as a guest room. So I refinished a beautiful old bed I scored. When we have the occasional guest, we have a great spot for them to stay. But the rest of the time…..let’s be honest, the bed doubles as a place to hold my latest completed projects or my latest crafty buys. Or it’s a great place to take a load off in the middle of a tedious project.
This rolling cart from Ikea has double lives as a nightstand and project cart. I’ve even lugged it to shows to use as my checkout station.
Above the one window in the room I wanted to create some kind of artwork. I decided on this eclectic “create” sign. The first letter is from a old sign, the middle 4 are craft letters with different treatments, and the last one is a metal letter I found at a store. It’s one of my favorite spots in the room. The colors, the randomness, the whimsy.
To give you an idea of how far this room has come, here is a little before and after. As you can see, we painted the house when we moved in. It went from a peanut butter brown to a soft grey. It really helped brightened up the room.
I am so happy with my craft room and I hope you enjoyed My Craft Room Tour. What did you think? I know it’s a lot to take in….but as they say, “Creativity is messy”.

You may have missed my announcement the other day, I have opened up a Facebook page to sell my handmade, upcycled, and refinished items. So if you would come “like” A Diamond in the Stuff Boutique I would be so thrilled, especially if you are in the Shreveport/Bossier City area.
What a beautiful transformation! All that storage and organization – swoon! Your oil cloth covered desk is a great idea, that I might have to try, to cover up my ugly and plain desk. So many great ideas here! *Pinned*
Yes the table underneath is an ugly folding table, but you’d never know now! Thanks for stopping by Lisa!!!
Super cute. Love the storage and great work space too. I’m sure it gets well used for all your projects. What a great way to use the bonus room.
