A Desk Upcycle

I had wanted to get a desk for my daughter. Something that she could do her homework on and her crafting, not to mention a little storage for all those craft supplies she has (like I said, chip off the old block!!!). So I was in search of a good desk for her, but I didn’t want to spend a lot of money on it. I anticipate this desk well be USED and ABUSED!

I stumbled across this desk at a flea market, I picked it up for $15. As you can see, the top left drawer face was broken, so I needed to figure out a solution to cover that up. It was pretty banged up!
With some help from my hubby, we got it sanded down enough to get rid of some of the blemishes. I added some primer and then I got to break out my newest toy…..I used my spray gun for the first time on this project! After the learning curve, we think we have it figured out. I think I will end up LOVING it once I get the hang of it.
I wanted to add a little something to this project, so I decided I wanted to Mod Podge some fabric on the front of the drawers. I should of painted the drawers first before putting the fabric on. Some of the drawers are a little dark with the wood showing through. Ah well, lesson learned I guess! I had my hubby cut some molding and I painted them white. I added the molding to the drawers with some Gorilla Glue. Then all it needed was some cute little knobs and it was done!
I have to say, I am REALLY loving Gorilla Glue!!! I just recently starting use it and it’s amazing! You really do have to read the directions and follow them exactly….but when you do it can work wonders!!!
