You may have seen versions of this floating around blogland. I won’t try and claim it as my idea and I have no idea who did it first. I’ve thought they were so cute for a long time and with Halloween candy on the brain I figured the October Make and Take Class was a great time to make them.
Here are the supplies we used:
-$1 glass bowl from Michael’s
-Clay pot
-Clay saucer
-Wood ball
-Craft paint
-Clear top coat
-Glue (I used E6000)
-Ribbon or embellishments of you choice
The first thing I did was glue the flat end of the wood ball to the underside of the clay saucer. I used my E6000 glue, it’s good stuff! Once the glue had time to dry I painted the clay pot and the saucer/wood ball top with a couple coats of DecoArt craft paint in Ebony.
I also used a clear gloss top coat to protect the clay pieces from use. When all the paint was dry I used my E6000 glue again to attach the glass bowl to the underside of the clay pot. I really like this glue, you just need to be sure to use a liberal amount (but not so much that it oozes out everywhere) and let it sit and dry for awhile.
Place your lid on top of the glass bowl and add a cute bow (or any other kinds of embellishments that you choose) and your done!
I’m going to change out the ribbon for the different seasons and holidays. Cuz I’m crazy and obsessed like that! The candy will also change out along with some of the holidays. The options are endless, by changing the paint color and embellishments it will have a whole new look!
Look how fabulous it looks with candy in it!!!
Linking up to these great link parties!!!
I LOVE THIS!!! I have seen them floating around and wondered how so many people just have gumball machines, now I get it! I think I will be stopping by joanns tonight!!
Very cute idea! But, I swear that candy wouldn’t last 15 minutes in my house! Too much of a sweet tooth 😉
