Mother’s Day Photo Flower Pot

Mother's Day Photo Flower Pot
Sometimes I get so wrapped up in projects, working on projects, blogging about projects, planning for projects, making projects to sell…..that I forget to make things for the people I love and care about. This year I tried to be on the ball and get some Mother’s Day projects made.
I decided I wanted to make a Photo Flower Pot for my Mother In Law. I started out with a plastic flower pot from the dollar store. I decided to go with plastic so it would be nice and light to ship across the country. I wasn’t really feeling the green color of the pot though and decided to paint it with a glossy black spray paint.
Once the pot was painted black it was time to add the photos. I gathered up a bunch of pictures I had taken recently of the kiddos. I used some outdoor Mod Podge to attach photos that I printed out on my printer.
I gave the whole thing a few shots of Mod Podge Acrylic spray. I did my best to prevent water damage from happening.
As I added the photos around the pot they didn’t line up completely because the pot is obviously rounded. To hide the unevenness, I added some ribbon to the top and bottom of the photos. Then I finished things off with some sweet little bows.
Awe aren’t they precious? Ok, I may be biased!
Again, because I need to ship this across the country I couldn’t add a real plant. So I decided to include some gardening gloves and seed packets inside the flower pot.
I love how it turned out and it should be arriving at my Mother In Law’s house in a couple days. I hope she loves it as much as I do!
Linking up to these great link parties!!

do you print the pictures on photo paper or regular white paper?

  16. It looks like you used regular printer paper. Did you try using photo paper and found it didn’t work as well? Love this!!! Going to make two!!

    • I did use regular printer paper. I choose not to use photo paper because I was afraid there may be some issues. The photos on printer paper worked wonderfully!

      • I tried to use regular photographs but that didn’t work. They wouldn’t stay on – I guess maybe too thick of paper? I’ll try and use regular printer paper and hope that works. Thanks!

  17. Do u attach the ribbon with mod podge as well? And do u spray with acrylic before or after u attach ribbon?

  18. I used the gloss mod podge. Do you think the flower pot will stay sealed if it is used outside?

    • I honestly don’t know. I usually use the outdoor if it’s something that will come into contact with water/moisture a lot. Can you put it somewhere where it won’t be exposed to rain/water as much?

  19. Did u use color or black an white photos?

  20. Did you use photo paper or regular computerus paper

  21. my ribbon is rippling when I hot glued it to my flower pot because of the pot being slanted. Did you have this problem, and if so what did you do to fix that?
